Automatic Timetabling in Higher Education Institutions: a real scenario and solution. In proceedings of the 6th Multidisciplinary International Conference on Scheduling : Theory and Applications (MISTA 2013), 27 - 30 Aug 2013, Ghent, Belgium, pages 151-170, 2013.
Paper
In a time where the need to reduce costs has become part of the day to day reality of all Educational Institutions, it is unthinkable to continue manually performing those tasks that can be automated and optimized – the creation of timetables. The automatic creation of timetables for Education is one of the most studied problems by the scientific community. However, almost all studies have been based on very simplified models of reality, not having thus a practical application. A realistic model of the problem, robust algorithms that are able to find valid solutions in highly restricted environments and optimization methods that are able to quickly provide quality results, are key factors to consider when attempting to solve the (real) problem faced by Educational Institutions. This paper presents a summary of the work performed by Bullet Solutions over the last few years, from the first stage of understanding and modelling the problem, until the final analysis of the results obtained with the use of the developed software under real conditions.

What is a doi?: A doi (Document Object Identifier) is a unique identifier for sicientific papers (and occasionally other material). This provides direct access to the location where the original article is published using the URL http://dx.doi/org/xxxx (replacing xxx with the doi). See http://dx.doi.org/ for more information
